I'll start out with PLEASE do not flame this post if you do not approve of it. Please just move on and do not knock her trip.
Last year Haley and I were sitting down watching the Outdoor CH and they were hunting Red Stag in N.Z. After the show she looks at me and asks if we could hunt them one day. I tell her I would have to look into it. I knew we could not go to N.Z. and it would just cost to much.
A few months pass and I decide to look into it for the heck of it. I found a Place up north that offered red stag so I call to get all the info.
Long story short I book the trip for us. I tell her we are going on a Stag trip and she freaks out thanking me and giving me the biggest hug. It's going to be a LONG wait.....
The time has come and on the road we go.I'll spare all the details and get to the best parts.
We are hunting in a blind and have a true monster work its way behind us so we set up out the North side. She has no shot and we watch him graze off. About 30 minutes later We have three nice ones working their way in on the south side. We get all set back up looking out that side. I glass and tell her to try for the one on the left. When I give her the green light I thought she was going to hyperventilate. I tell her to breath and then I hear" ARE YOU READY?" I say " READY WHEN YOU ARE" A second or so later the 308 lets out a bark. As fast as you could blink your eye the recoil knocks her back into the tripod knocking the camera of aim of the Stag.
I look around and see them running away. I tell her I think she missed and it sounds like she is about to cry. I say it again I think you missed hun. Then all of a sudden I see something move. She dropped the Stag in its tracks and it was down for the count. I yell out NO HE'S DOWN. Well how fast things change.
It may not be for everyone but this is one trip that I will never ever forget. She made me so proud. She is only 11 and has two deer and now a Stag under her belt and all with one shot each.
I hope you can enjoy the video and pictures as much as we do. Haleys stag wound up being 275 pound 17 pointer and mine was a 345 pound 22 pointer .
