Just getting into waterfowl hunting and have been trying out different loads to see what shoots best. Shooting a Mossberg with an improved choke and was wondering what some of you more experienced fowl guys are shooting for Geese and Ducks.

Geese-
Kent Fast Steel - BB, 3.5 inch out of (FULL, MOD, and IC KICKS HIGH FLYER CHOKES)

Ducks-
Ken Fast Steel - #2,#3, 3 inch out of ( FULL MOD and IC KICKS HIGH FLYER CHOKES)
or
Black Cloud- #2, 3 inch out of (MOD or IC KICKS VORTEX CHOKES)

Is there a lighter load you use for ducks?
#4s for Woodies

and these of course like stated above.

Ducks-
Ken Fast Steel - #2,#3, 3 inch out of ( FULL MOD and IC KICKS HIGH FLYER CHOKES)

not a problem...if you pattern the different types of shot brands and sizes you will find what fits your gun best.[up][up]

thats how i came up with the ammo i shoot...and after you find what shoots great outta your guns..then you are golden!

some patterning i did over the summer...

I took my new Kicks High Flyer Choke tube to be patterned.

I was shooing it in my Remington 11-87 Supermag.
Here is how it went...

My Normal Goose Loads:

First up is the 3 inch Steel shot, #2 at 20 yards.

The Winchesters shot low for somereason..could be becasue they are not packed too tight...the black cloud shot normal.

Not it was time for the Goose loads...I had to cut it short because of rain coming and i had to go mow some of the fields...

The winchester shot LOW yet again. and the Kent...well it shot great like normal.

Has anyone tried tungsten or bismuth?
when you get into those kinds of metals ammo price jumps up for the amount of shells you get. you go from getting 25 in a box to 10-15 for the same price...

for example...Kent Tungsten-Matrix is an OUTSTANDING ROUND. they are about $27-$35 per 10 shots because of the tungsten

Xpert 3inch #4
Rio 3in #4
Full choke Remington 870
No probs for all ducks and Canadas.

*Rio - a brand I picked up at Cabelas, cheaper than Xpert and fast hard hitting, nice ammo.

Both shoot nice and fast.

If you can find STEEL #6 - they are good for finishing wounded swimmers. #4,3,2, etc take too many shots to finish, #6 seems to do it 1 shot.

3 inch Blackcloud #3's are perfect for duck. Let me state that I don't sea duck hunt. For puddlers they're perfect. Geese I use Winchester 3 inch Xpert steel in BB. Takes em down hard. 3 1/2's are just to big to shoot all day. Good luck Chuck Hrosik
