In spite of everything I got two geese this morning on Assunpink lake. I missed with my first shot over the dekes, I shot two more times, once at the one on the right, I didn't think I had hit it, so I put the barrel out in front of the one on the left, thought I missed that one two, but it just took a couple of seconds for it to drop, but it was stone dead. I went and picked that one up and seen the other bird sitting on the water now 50 yrds away from where the one dropped, I didn't think I hit it but I realized it was wounded from the wing shot. Went back two where I was set up put the decoys in the bag grabbed my stuff and went two look for it, found it in a little cove and shot low, shot again this time I hit it in the head. They both had bands, turned out to be a good morning. Gonna post some pics.

Probably, I would think it's from the water, the white patches on the face of the one were real muddy lookin to, the shallows in this lake have a lot of muck.

Good luck Twowitken. Hay you hunt Assunpink a lot? I think you're the guy me and my twin brother were talking two last duck season, the saturday we got bombed with the heavy snow storm. Done and done cjb625. But thanks for looking out.[up]

Bet ya there'll be a ton of more guys out there hunting Canadas this weekend. [lol]

Funny I never shoot any of them over the water and I usually wait until the cut the corn before my layout. Guess I'll have to learn about early season goose.

Lots of banded Canadas at Assunpink. Know of several guys who scored with bands last year there.

This is the first year I hunted them on the water over decoys, it's nice having all that cover on the edges to sit in, you get to see a lot of the life on the lakes.[up]
