Yeah, Mike can be quite rough especially if you're new to him but my experience from day one has pretty much been that I end up talking to the guy about a lot of stuff, hunting etc. through the evening (and I enjoyed it!) and he has even stayed open for me late to finish work on my son's and my bow (which I bought through the internet)and I've only known the guy for three seasons. Not sure maybe I just started off on the right foot with him.

mike is mike.. he is a good local bow shop.(for me) he knows his sh!t and you buy a bow from him,he takes care of you & it... he comes of rough and he is $$,but the retarded kid in Dicks isnt going to get you shooting like he does..

well if you bought the bow there he will probaly do it for free....if you didnt he wont do it at all,and he will tell you your bows a piece of shit. i would rather drink drano then go to that asshole...IMHO[smoke][up]

what is so hard about tuning a bow???you could train a monkey to do it...this guy is a total asshole. I f you want to spend more money then any place else and get abused why doing it go to a&m...ask master baiter about him,,, he ripped his mathews apart and said its a piece of shit, 2 months later he was selling them! People call him the bow notzi

Sorry I even commented on this question which has become an issue. Mike is more bow knowledge in his pinky nail than most have anywhere about anything. I new commenting on this site was stupid , probably my last. Mike if your hearing this BS I'll see ya tomorrow.

Mikes store is very good, he always has a variety of equipment. I have had lengthy discussions with him through the years on many issues but there will always be gossip. As an owner of a buisness of the most jealous hobbies known to man he should know to grin and nod when one archer passes judgement on another and kep his mouth shut... I will see you at Targateers...

Look it's a personnel preference of where guys go.I have dealt with Mike in the past.Yea he is prick but he is a good guy and has knowledge but imo Darryl Gunn at Tips and Ray and Tommy at strickly archery are the top guys in this state that know what they are doing.By far no one I've seen ties a knot like Darryl.Tips might charge alot but He is one of the best imo.He and tommy and Ray are the only one's that work on my bow

thats funny because i heard horror stories about one of the above mentioned guys/several times but i dont bash anybody and like you said its a personal preference. Mike doesnt always tell you want you want to hear and maybe he doesnt have the best way of getting his points across, but he is one of the best teachers i ever had. I think a lot of people just cant handle the truth but thats all i have to say. Once i got over the fact that i didnt know as much as i thought i did I learned a great deal from him and I was shooting 15 years before i ever went to A&M. He spent an hour with me corrected three very bad habits that i had and i have never shot better since. what can i say if you dont like the store don't go its not by chance he has been in business as long as he has. You will meet some of the best shots in the state at his range and they have always been more than happy to help out or answer questions.

Last year I purchased my first bow from Mike. He made me laugh if your up tight and cant handle someone joking and breaking balls go someplace else. As far as bows go, he spent about 3 hours with me giving me pro's and cons of all the different components and explained what they do while we setup my bow then he took me in the back and taught me how to shoot. I brought the bow back today to get my peep tied off and sight adjusted at no charge. As someone else said I think people dont like that he wont tell you what you wanna hear he will give you his opinion like it or not. Personally id rather goto a shop where a guy is telling you "Hey you dont need to spend $100 on that when this does the same thing for $75" that just goes to show he isnt a shop thats gonna yes you to death and try and get you to kill your bank account at his shop. Maybe some have horror stories but ive experienced nothing but great things.

I recently purchased a bow from Mike at A&M and my experience was the same as NJgunners. He spent 2 hours with me, allowing me to test shoot different bows, he never pushed me one way or the other, but provided his unbiased opinion if solicited. I settled on the Z7 and put a deposit on it that day. I walked away feeling very good about my purchase and A&M. When it was ready, he added all the accessories for me and set aside 3 hours of his time to correct my form..I never knew how bad it really was until he corrected it. we fine tuned it, paper tuned it, and then he gave me 2 free passes to shoot on his range. Yes, he can be short, sometimes gruff, but he knows his stuff and I was a longtime patron of Wilderness Archery (when it was still around)and L&H and never received anything in the way of coaching or assistance. Like someone else here said, check your ego at the door, go with an open mind and you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you learn. Just my nickel FWIW. Oh forgot to mention, he re-fletched a half dozen arrows free of charge, and did not charge me twice for going a half hour over my range time...what he wants is a long term relationship and happy customers...as a businessman myself I can't fault him for that!
