Locks and chains ! Anti Theft

been looking into a real hard to cut chain and lock for my stand. So far this chain looks promising.

I have two Millenium M100 hangons and there 200 each

I figure 16 ft of chain @ 6.50 ft
the two masterlocks 20 each . Figure $140 for a little more peace of mind is worth it to me anyway

i use multiple chains n locks on each stand. if u wana steal it, its not gona be easy. my problem is with trail cams. it seems no matter what i do they grow legs and walk away. any ideas on that?

The only thing I can think of is a dummy/decoy cam with an elevated IR cam facing the decoy cam. All I own is flash cams. I've been lucky so far, but I have a bad feeling about the new property I'm on.

i had five cams, one ladder stand and a summit titan climber stolen last yr. everything was locked and chained on private property. scumbags!!! cant win

All i can say is hidden camera from up in a tree.

I know it may not stop the thief.. but it may help to see their faces.

I had someone cut my ladder stand on private land in NY. When I got to tree, stand was gone but the cable and lock were around the base of the tree. If they want it, they are going get it.

Last year someone took my bottom rung of steps from my ladder stand but left the middle and top with the seat, which is where I had it chained. I was pissed and have not been back to that farm since.

I don't even lock them up anymore. Why bother? There is nothing out there that will keep a determined crackhead from stealing your stuff.

All my hang on stands have chains on them anyway so it's no big deal to carry a lock. Never had one stolen. The couple stands I had stolen had no locks, both on private land.

I want my stand to be there when I want to use it.Cost has nothing to do with it!You can buy a nice heavy duty chain at home depot!

my problem is with trail cams. it seems no matter what i do they grow legs and walk away. any ideas on that?

1) make sure you never place a cam over bait
2) position you cam in such a manor as it is hard to see
3) use a steel locking case that is bolted (internally) to the tree with a locking python type cable
4) camoflage the cam set up

These steps will take a while, but you will be rewarded in that your cam will still be there when you get back. I've not lost a cam in over 4 years even on public land. and I run 2 to 3 cams at a time

A dremel tool with a diamond blade will make short work of any chain you use. A chain will stop a guy who just happens upon your stand and is thinking about taking it. But these jerkoffs go out JUST to steal stands and are prepared. Very easy to conceal the little battery powered dremel tool. The most rewarding day hunting will be the day you get out of your truck and the jackass comes walking out with your stand. Better yet as you are walking in and you meet him back in were it's just you and him and no witnesses LOL. So dont waste alot of money on some state of the art chain. Spend the money on a nice Louisville Slugger.

Make sure you strip the bolt heads so they do not take it apart since they can't cut the chain.
