WOW !! I am sure that you will remember this trip for the rest of your life. Great pictures and it's a trip that most people dream about.

Congrats and I am looking forward to seeing more of the pictures.

Jersey Bob did you try any Bil Tong or Droe Wors? My wife is afrikaans her families friends have a huge hunting farm it's about 80 thousand acres. I went there a few years back. I have been there 4 times I only hunted once there though and it was surprise gift from my father in law. Game was plentiful. Kudu, Gemsbok, springbok, blou wilderbeest, black wilderbeest, teens bok, Impala. Those south afticans can really party. After the hunt the party usually started right on the back of the landrover with a bottle of whiskey and from there it was back to camp with plenty of braai vleis red wine and beer. Good times and congratulations on your outstanding hunt.

What set up did you use to take those great beasts??
A funny thing--my shoulder was bothering me in spite of shots for bursitis. I stumbled on a great deal--a 2009 Diamond Rock, in the box, on Ebay. (Very easy to draw, 1 cam, 1 wheel.) I got that bow for $200. The sight was about $35. I had the rest and stabilizer sitting home. I used it for all the animals I took.

HELL YES! They're great. [up] I was trying to find a way to sneak some back to the states, but the fine is way too big if you get caught.

By the way, that's a beautiful gun, what's the make/caliber?
Another tribute to frugality. That is Terek's father's old army .303 Ennfield. The South African army was upgrading back when his dad was finishing his service. He got a surplus army rifle, and had a good stock made up by a gunsmith. She's a tack driver!@

I'll put up more pics later but I'm getting PMs, so here are some details.

I hunted with Ken Moody Hunting, headquartered in Nashville.

His outfitter in S.A. is Herman Scheppers (the guy with the beard) and you hunt his property (very large, part of a working cattle ranch) and nearby properties depending on what you want and what the other land owners are seeing. Terek is one of his Professional Hunters (PH).

This is not "put and take" hunting where they restock the property and shoot their way through the game...this is managing excess game from a number of properties. You may drive a bit, but that 12 year old wildebeest is proof that they've been LIVING on that property for a long time, not just recently released from a paddock.

Your taxidermist must be licking his chops. Congrats!

I had talked to African outfiiters at some shows, most encouraged cutting edge broadheads at 80lbs.
I killed all mine with the same gear I use here for deer--that is what my outfitter told me to do and it worked.

For dangerous game the heavy bows are advisable--hippo, rhino, buffalo, etc. They're also a good idea for giraffe, which have THICK skins.

Congrats Bob. Make sure you get Kurt pics and a story for the magazine. I like the black UBNJ shirt in the one pic[up]
