Say Yes to Crossbows in NJ Petition

As some of you here already know I'm disable. I went last year to buy a crossbow. I could no longer pull the old Browning Mirage, one shot and I was done. When I went to Sportsman Center, I told them about my predicament, and that if there was something on the rack that I could handle. That is when he show me the Mathew's. Well I bought the Mathew's and been putting a lot of time into shooting to work up my muscles around the shoulders so I can shoot it more then three times in a row.

Like I say I can get the license, but as long as I can manage to pull a regular bow, I will stick with it.

For disable persons yes I'm 100% for it. If they want to create a different season for it OK. my 2cents worth.

So you think this is going to introduce more people to the sport?

Are there 50,000 people out there right now, waiting for us to introduce crossbow season before they start hunting? Heck are there 500 guys

Not 50,00 but it's better than turning ppl. away.Damn Bow hunters are selfish we get 1/2 the year & damn it I got sucked back in...BTW I'm a bow hunter.

Maybe all the registered users on here that dont post are disgruntled crossbow shooters just waiting for their chance...Get them to sign...:D[rofl]

You know what, you want crossbows then lets have a special season for disable hunters only, they have the right just as we do, and youth has there special days. Don't disrespect them

this would be the only thing good coming from Crossbows

the whole deal for me is the act of drawing the bow with a deer in close proxitmity as well as moving your body into postion for the shot(not to mention holding full draw if your shot opportunity disappears quickly). i think this seperates bowhunters from x-bow hunters. again disabled hunters should be allowed any opportuntity to score. as for able-bodied people, if you want to use a xbow you should have your opportunity to do so just not during bow season. if you want to hunt during bow season then pick up a bow and start practicing and earn your right to hunt during that season. maybe allow youths the chance to hunt with an-xbow during bow season just to promote hunting, though i am not very keen on this idea. i am not against the idea of x-bows but i am against the idea of them being used during bow season(except for the disabled)

Rich, I'm a traditional Archer YES, but I also feel, I'm more for other hunters. I know I'm one out of 1,000,000 that thinks crossbows are ok...BUt when does it all stop... NO Xbows... NO baiting.... No unlimited antlerless ect: are we here to fight for our right to hunt... or are we here to tell others You can't use that thing in this season... A crossbow is both a firearm (Style) & a bow (Stick & String) so why not let them be used in both seasons.. If you don't like Xbows don't shoot one, and if you don't use a Xbow for hunting then DON'T knock them because you don't know anything about them...

Why not be happy for Our Brothers/Sisters that would like to be able to use a Xbow in NJ that wants to use them?

When the compound bow was first introduced it like the crossbow was frowned upon and there were all manner of naysayers speaking out about how it was going to hurt bow hunting. If those views had prevailed then those of us who shoot only compound bows would be getting our thrills today shooting 3D or competitions, not hunting. Fact of the matter is compound bows becoming legal is what gave bow hunting the boost it enjoys today because they are easier to shoot than traditional equipment. Who here can say without hesitation that there will not be a similar upswing if crossbows are made legal?

and a compound is a easier way to bow hunt then a Traditional Long Bow or Recurve, so what your saying Rich, Matty & Joe that the easy way is OK for you but not others..... KInd of oneway to me... But OK....

Find where I said it was the easy way, and then lump me into that. Till then, quit pointing fingers in the wrong direction.;)

I have concerns about allowing it into archery season. Is that so hard to understand?[confused]
