Click below to see a map of all the states that allow fireworks and the 4 states that don't, including the nanny state of NJ. It's an embarassment. I will one day move to a free state.

I'm not sure who said it, I think it was probably Thomas Jefferson that the display of fireworks in celebration of Independence Day is the most appropriate way to show one's patriotism. Or something close to that.

Memories of the Jersey Shore in the 60's and 70's growing up, BIG bonfires and shopping bags filled with fireworks of all kinds brought to the beach by dozens of families. No problems, no hassles, just good clean family bonding and fun. Today you can't even a build a bonfire on the beach without the SWAT Team showing up. Sure occasional injuries most often as a result of some dumbass with nobody to blame but themselves. No lawsuits were filed back then. The fact that you were a dumbass was not something you really wanted to make public knowledge.

Sparklers are now illegal in NJ. This state leads in politician's belief that it is the government's job to protect us from ourselves.

my 2 cents

There is a big fireworks store around the corner from my cousins house in Ghettysburg Pa. The law is Pa. residents cannot purchase fireworks but out of state residents can. Pa. residents can possess fireworks but you cannot when you cross the state line LMAO. WTF dimwited politician made these laws?

Oh thats right we voted them in. On the presumtion they were smarter than a 5th grader.

I hear you cant wait to get out of this state.its an antifun state hell its a antieverything state.

They announced that they will arrest anybody shooting off fireworks.
Not just a ticket - nope - arresting them.
How idiotic is that?

As any legislator will tell you, NJ residents cannot be trusted. If the residents of NJ could pump their own gas and buy fireworks there would be uncontrollable fireballs exploding all over the state.

Besides, Independence Day is an American holiday. The Declaration of Independence does not apply. NJ has it's own, written by Democratic lawmakers, called the Declaration of Dependence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all animals women and men, in that order, are created equal, except for minority groups that vote Democratic, which are more equal, that they are endowed by Darwin with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are welfare, minimum wage, bondage and servitude. For we know the subjects of New Jersey will not fight back.....

If it moves, tax it. If it continues to move, regulate it. If it stops moving, subsidize it...

If you take from a community everything that is fun and enjoyable to do, all there is left for the citizens of said community to do is go to work, buy un-needed things and pay taxes !! Like a community of revenue generating ROBOTS.

It's almost as if there's a master plan in play, here, eh ??

Stop celebrating independence, there is no independence in this state. That is their message here.
It doesnt get anymore true than that..

Independence, Freedom and the theory of America was laid to rest in 1984..With financial institutions controlling government of government being comprised of what is obviously a group of control freak morons, the 4th of July is now a mourning party....

Seems as if more people are waking up, though..This is a good thing.
