Tom actually with out looking into it, I can name 3 black bear attacks here in north Jersey just in the last 2 years, the guy in Walpack that luckily enough killed the attacking bear with his bow, the guy who was attacked for his Quickcheck sandwich in his driveway, and just recently the guy who was hiking when he was attacked and his dog killed in Ringwood state park.
That is just off the top of my head I'm sure with a little research I could easily find more.
In my opinion BOTH Black Bears and Yotes need to be seriously reduced from there present numbers here in New Jersey [down] We will continue to see more and more serious attacks by both these animals if we don't do more to keep them in check.

Eastern Coyotes have slowly migrated east from the western states and some biologist believe they interbred with wolves and or domestic dogs along the way.
The coyotes have taken over the void left from the eradication of the native wolves and mountain lions that were here until the settlers wiped them out.
It was a natural occurrance Not an introduction by state biologist or Geico .
Yes it is true that Coyotes do alot of damage to Fawns, Turkeys and other Prey and will occationally attack humans...But I would rather deal with oversized Coyotes then Wolves and Mt.Lions

I say that we put a a call in to the C.O.Y.O.T.E. Group and ask them to hand out educational pamplets to parents and make a law that forces us to buy coyote proof cans for us to transport our children.
Also, perhaps create a new law that forces children to stay inside their homes at all times, unless accompanied by a sharpshooter employed by WhiteBuffalo (or they may play outside if they are first placed in the coyote proof can)...
or are we already mandated to do the above?[confused]

Not to get off the yotes, but a couple of years ago I had a rabid raccoon in the driveway. I live 2 doors from the elementary school. We called the police, who told us to call animal control, animal control was closed. Another call to the police, and they told us to wait until they opened. Meantime we have elementary children walking past this ****. I dispatched it!! I could see one of the unchaperoned youngsters wanting to pet the ****.
Most yotes in the north east are dna timber wolf or the red wolf in the south east. coy dogs really do not do good because they breed in the later fall and whelp when it is cold some research has shown. also after 3 gen the blood lines go back to the major source meaning dog is low and yote takes over again. also I have seen research that states the coy dog does not have the huntablity and fight that the pure yote does there for never really gets into the pac. western yotes are more 1 or 2 in a pac where the north eastern is taking on a more pac role. with all that being said any wild animal will loose fear of man when living around him. look at our bears compared to Maine bears our look at you up there they hide.
Shucks I had to grab a young **** off a tree to day and the mom wanted a big piece of me for doing that LOL I have even had ground hogs come at me when I grab a young one [rofl]

one thing different between the bear and coyote..the coyote is more to move south the bear is not..and they are infesting the state forest in the pines..iam not thinking the bear are yet??.AS Hunters we better do something fast or they will put a hurting on the deer population more then any DEER CLUB IN THE PINES...BUT were more interested in hunting 300 ft closer to a house it seems now.[confused][confused][confused]

Actually a few years back a child was attacked in middle town nj by a coyote!
