Steps:
1)Find a nice development
2)Cruise around after dark with your spot light
3)Find access to back yards
4)Set up tree stands
5)Enjoy your NJ outdoors adventure
Nobody is forcing you to hunt to within 150' of homes/buildings if this passes, but it gives us a critical means to manage our burgeoning deer herds in populated areas where we have otherwise not been able to reduce their numbers except by car bumper. Great job to all involved! Now we need to see this pass the Senate committee and come to a successful vote before the full state congress.

GVS, if you're not comfortable hunting from that distance why would you deny someone else that opportunity?

Doris Lin even testified holding her todler saying an arrow could hit her.
I find it disgusting using children for your own political agenda - and I really don't care left or right.
But it's a well-known tactic. Just like the lady who cried at the bear hunt hearing, saying that she had to drive her kids to school due to the flying bullets.
We all know that's a blatant lie ... but tell that lie to someone who does not know any better ... voila! you got a supporter.
Disgusting!

This is great to hear. NJ is so densely populated. This will allow many hunters to have access to great areas to hunt that would otherwise be off limits due to the 450' perimeter law.
Most of the places I hunt are 100s of yards from buildings. But I do have an area that is over run with Deer and this 150' will now allow me to hunt there.

I wouldn't deny anyone, however I wouldnt want to see you in a tree 50 yards away from my back deck.

Beyond that I fear the backlash from the non-hunting public, I get the finger from passing cars when I'm going into the woods and thats in "rural" sussex county.

I can imagine some of the confrontations that will take place, sure you'll be legal but soccer mom wont know that, she'll be calling the local PD who will soon get tired of the calls.

A few deer die in the neighboorhoods after they're hit and you have channel 2 news set up.

Win the battle loose the war, that's how I see it.
I don't think it's worth the negative publicity this may bring,

I really hope I'm wrong.

I think you're building a slippery slope and putting the worst case scenarios in the forefront as if they are a common occurence.

Similiar to the Sunday bow. All doom and gloom and drama from the other side. Hikers, horseback riders and dog walkers shot with arrows.

And what happened?

Nothing.

Because the safety perimeter is moved to 150 doesn't mean that you HAVE to move to 150. All it means is that you can move to 400, 350, 300, 250, 200 or 150.

If you listen to the opponents of this bill, you'd think there will be a bowhunter sitting on every lightpost on the street.

But it's ok at 450' to see a treestand from your backyard?

Why would you let the ignorance of others cause you fear and why would you allow it to control you when you are not only providing a public service (deer control) but also putting food on your table? IMO - fear should remain a life saving impulse and not used to control a person from engaging in legal and legitimate activities and basic freedoms.

Fear is what the antis want you to feel. Why give them such power? They are wrong from an environmental health standpoint and a conservation standpoint.

So what? Again, fear of the ignorance of people seems to be controlling your thinking. I think it's more useful to educate the ignorant rather than fear them. Just my opinion.

Do you know that many of the people that testified today are supporting forms of domestic eco-terorism? Do you know that some have been arrested for hunter harassment? Did you know that one used a child as a prop to try to defeat the bill? Do you realize that they knowlingly gave false and inflammatory testimony in order to limit your freedoms? They tried to control the assembly committee by using "fear" in the form of exaggerated safety concerns and wild "what if" scenarios. If anyone should be fearful it is these people - but they know no shame nor do they fear consequences, because WE have not held them accountable with facts and science. Hunters and anglers have a history of apathy and catering to the antis whims because of fear, this has served to embolden them. IMO - it needs to be stopped now.

If the committee were brave enough to rely of science and facts and voted in favor of the bill why would you have anything to fear?

Science, safety and environmental health are on our side. Fear is a tool of the antis.

I really hope I'm wrong
Me too;)

I count myself among the few who can say he's seen the hard work and dedication of Tom Connors! A true Sportsmen and a Giant (literally) in the outdoor community! From your son's post, I can see you're raising a future outdoor activist!

Good work Buddy![up][up][up]
