It's official --just made the reservations. It'll be the first year I take my girlfriend so it should be interesting. For some strange reason I have a feeling she's going to outfish me.

Hopefully it doesn't rain like last year
I don't mind fishing in the rain, and the fish don't seem to care one bit cause they're alreay wet [rofl] I love Stephens State Park though and always have a great time fishing there.

Yeah I don't mind fishing in the rain but I don't like camping in the rain. [cool]

Stephens is great, been going for 35 years and am now sharing it with my son!

I got a camper last year and will be at one of the RV parks nearby probably. I eyeballed the gate at Stephens campsite and am not confident I can thread the needle with a 28 footer.

Fishing in the rain isn't bad but camping in the rain is a different story.I've been driving up to Stephens for 20 some years. Took my son for the first time last year. We pounded them until the rain started.Still it's not the same since they stopped stocking the lower section behind the houses. Someone told me you can fish in front of park maintnence house, that always looked like nice water.Hope for good water, see you there.

[up]sounds like a great weekend[up]camp with a girlfriend who needs fish:D

I keep reading that alcohol is prohibited at NJ state parks.

Do they enforce the "No Beer" rule or do they look the other way as long as you don't act like a jackass?

I'd love to start camping in NJ but have been going to NY parks to avoid the prohibition rules.

I like sitting around my fire at the end of the day with a nice cold beer and thus have not really entertained the idea of NJ state parks.

Camping in the rain can be a ton of fun. I spent 10 days setting up camp and day-hiking through Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont with the wife and dog 2 years ago. Do yourself a favor and buy a few tarps and para-cord. Cover your tents and picnic table about 8 feet off the ground. Go just up to the edge of your camp fire so you prevent getting wet while sitting fireside. I'm looking for pics. I'll post when I find them. found one from Acadia. Fresh lobbsta in da rain fiyaside

"a ton of fun " Brother you have a good outlook on life if camping in the rain is a ton of fun
The wife and I travel well together and always make the best of any situation. This one is from NH along the Kangamagus Highway. Rained all 10 days. Good rain gear and a love of the outdoors makes anytime outside fun.
