i am looking for a 500 honda 4x4 or something like that....still havent found a nice used one yet. i might just wind up buying new.... good luck

yamaha makes a great utility quad. i have one, a 2005 Kodiak 400 4x4, the thing is a work horse and has never let me down. i use it on the farm and in the woods for hunting. my buddy has a 2007 polaris sportsman 500 4x4, it also is a work horse but i would never trade my kodiak for anything else.

stump removal and moving boulders .....

don't expect too much from an atv for these things .... they're just too light and will lose traction on dry hard ground

As far as brands .... with the atv craze over the past decade, etc ... they all evolved into good machines

Are you sure it is only going to be for work? If so, you may want to look for an older utility quad ... before they turned them into "sport utility." You can get them cheap ... especially in today's market.

HOwever, and probably you know, atv's are a hell of a lot of fun. and you may want a nice big sport utility.

All my atv's are Kawasaki's.

My 2 cents.

Good luck.

I have a Suzuki Eiger its a 400 its great. My father has a Polaris 400 it has more power than mine. In the cold the Suzuki starts right away the polaris is tough sometimes. The Polaris has a single break lever system the Arctic cat might too.. I got rid of my Polaris because of it.. My Buddy "Beef" on NJH has a Brute Force 750 that thing has soo Much balls its crazy.. As some oe said earlier they are all good find one in your price range..

Honda Rincon, Awesome machine. I had a Grizzly 660, and several hunda foremans 400,450, and a 500 and they are great machines but the new Rincon is as awesome as they come. Much better ride then the foremans and grizzly, more responsive throttle and more power, the fuel injection is fantastic. Its the best machine I have ever riden or owned.

If you want, I have a foreman 450 and the rincon if you want to take them for a ride.

Check out a Yamaha Big Bear 400. Has a super low 1st gear. That would be pefect for plowing and stump removal.

Lot of guys on here with quads. We should have a Quad-a-Thon[hihi]

Whats up Jeff? Went today to look at the Honda Rincon. Still researching other quads. Thanks for all the advise. [up]

Stick to one of the big 3 kawasaki, yamaha or honda.
Not that artic cat or polaris are bad machines but they do have the highest breakdown & repair stats. And parts are a bit more expensive.

I prefer Kawasaki first, cause they give you the most for your money. then yamaha. Either of these will run for years with just regular maint.
