Flat999 I hope you are right and there is MORE to the story. If theres not more to the story......damn!

ARRESTED??? for doodling? maybe she drew a picture of a gun!!!

And they are making her write an essay on what she learned from the experience???? If it were ME, Oh I can tell you what my essay would be about.....

what I learned, I learned that if Im going to get arrested for anything, no matter how small, then nex time, Im gonna make it WORTH IT!!!! wheres that clock tower????!!!

holy crap that is total BS.

The crap I do in school and get away with these days surprises me though. Running down the halls screaming gang words and stuff LOL

chris where do we send the bail money:p

when I was in 6th grade40yrs ago , my fellow classmate brought his dads 32 cal pistol to school and his brother had the clip full of amo,All that happened was there parents were called to come and pick up the gun and they got one day suspension. What is wrong with the world[wallmad][confused]

Next thing we'll read is "student arrested for not staying to the right while walking down the school hallway"

You guys actually believe everything you read. My cousin is a NYC cop and what the papers/internet didnt tell you is that she threatened the principal and when the police were called she spit on one of them in the face! And you all jump to conclusions [down][down] you ever hear the expression "dont believe everything you read" OBVIOUSLY NOT! YOU BUNCH OF DEGENERATES

I guess it's safer than arresting a crack dealer. They oculd be armed or something....but wait....aren't guns illegal??? [confused]

OH, I am SO confused. I need Barack to explain this to me.....[spy]

I work building NYC schools ... those kids are OUT of CONTROL. The Liberals have the inmates in charge of the asylum over there. With 50 and 60% drop out rates ... what do you think you're dealing with? The next Einstein ... or just another of NY City's drains on society? The kid probably shouldn't be in the gene pool.

if the teacher made her stay after and clean all the desks in the room I'd say good for her
Would have been an appropriate punishment in my mind, and when we were kids that would be nothing compared to the punishment you got from your Mom and Dad when you got home!

As a boy in Riyadh, they would take us and put our feet up and cane the bottom of our feet, until we could not walk for a week!

All because I peek under a girl's burka that was sitting next to me!

America much better place to live!

I agree people are too quick to judge and believe too much of what they read but by the same token, why should we believe what you're writing... my girlfriends cousins step brothers girlfriends dad said... [eyeroll]

I don't believe everything I read especially your post. An internet search did not reveal any reports of the girl spitting into anyone's face. However, it did reveal multiple reports of city officials admitting that the arrest was a mistake.

It should also be noted that lawsuits with over 20 instances of unlawful arrests within NYC schools were made in the past months.

Writing on a desk is wrong and she deserved punishment commensurate with the deed. Hauling a 12 year old off to the police station is freakin ridiculous and the cop should ashamed.

City officials acknowledged Alexa's arrest was a mistake.

"We're looking at the facts," said City Education Department spokesman David Cantor. "Based on what we've seen so far, this shouldn't have happened."

"Even when we're asked to make an arrest, common sense should prevail, and discretion used in deciding whether an arrest or handcuffs are really necessary," said police spokesman Paul Browne
