Yesterday afternoon I heard alot of scracthing on aluminum. I looked at the side of my house to see a grey squirrel shimming up the gutter downspout. When he got to the top he started gnawing at the siding. I scared him away but noticed a good size hole there. This morning I woke up to hear it gnawing again. This squirrel was determined to chew his way in. He was starting to go through the wood to the inside wall. This is two stories up and I dont have a ladder long enough so I had to call someone to come out and patch it. I caught the little bugger in a box trap and relocated him. Ruined my day and could not go hunting [wallmad]

Your lucky they didnt get in. Their teeth are no joke I saw a similar situation where the cable line ran directly into the attic, they chewed the hole bigger and wrecked the house, insulation and walls. Damned tree rats

I have a friend on the FD I volunteer with who saw a squirrel work all last weekend to eat its way thru wood facia to access his attic. This time of year they are getting ready to nest and give birth and they are doing this to 100s of houses and detached garages all over NJ. Try trapping as many squirrels as you can around the outside of your house and relocating them FAR away. It's illegal to do so, but...

Or spray ammonia daily where they are trying to chew their way inside. If you have trees nearby, trim them back so the squirrels don't have easy access to your roof.

Back in my college days we had a big nest of them in the attic of our rented off-campus house one winter. We punched a hole through the dry wall ceiling into the attic and released my pet ferret up there. I've never seen so much gray fur flying everywhere in my entire life![rofl]

I'm not sure if ferrets can actually smile or not, but mine was as close as they get[ko]

It was well worth the trouble to spackle the hole later on[hihi]

My Grandpa had one chew his way in. THose things have some serious choppers for vegetarians.

Had same problem, except it was my wife!!!!!!!
