So whats the quickest way for me to get a shotgun in time for turkey season?
Just get someone with NJ FID card to buy it in NJ for you.

and if you are from jersey then you still need a NJ FID card

No you dont, not to purchase it in PA. Maybe to own it in NJ
I heard that was the case. I know thats the case in DE but i guess not in PA. you would know better than me. My mistake.

dont dupe the guy money, the flip side of him taking the bribe and giving you the gun is being arrested and never being able to purchase a gun legally for the rest of your life.

Will a parent or uncle buy you one? If not you need to be 18 for a long gun FID card and 21 to get a pistol permit.

Its also against NJ law for an adult to leave a loaded firearm in the confines of a minor. In otherwords its illegal for your uncle, mom, dad, grandpa to give you a weapon and let you go hunting unsupervised with it. If you were to get stopped hunting alone with the gun they are in deep crap.

so if someone loans me a gun or loan me a fid?

Better yet, my friend got his fid.So he could buy me the gun and i could use it?But whos name would it be in?
They say there is no gun registration in nj for long guns but when you do ever get a FID and buy one, you will see how much BS that is.

If you're friend buys it, his name is tagged to that serial number. And again its illegal for you to leave a loaded weapon in the hands of a minor. Unfortunately you are a minor and if you go turkey hunting by yourself, you are possessing a loaded weapon un supervised.

What days are you looking to go turkey hunting? Maybe some of the adults on here would love to take an up and coming young man turkey hunting.

Depending upon my sons soccer schedule I may be free a saturday or two. Be warned though I'm very new to hunting, couldn't tell you where turkeys are, and I have no idea how to call. Again Ill find out the soccer schedule on march 14.

I also remember reading some statute stating you can't "loan" a gun to another hunter for more than 8 hours or something like that. And you have to be with the person throughout the entire "loan period".

I'll try to dig it out. Freakin gun laws are enough to drive you mad.

I've shared alot of this confusion in the past, between federal and state differences, then town ordinances superceding the state, but where does federal fall into place?

What happened to the Constitution and the simple right to bear arms. Does that not superceded all other jurisdictions? Is the question in how you acquire them now more so than once you have them in your possession?

Gun draws really confuse the hell out of me. I do have my FID because I feel like I need to, of course to purchase guns but even recently there was a case where a hunter on here told a story about how a police office or CO demands to see their FID despite not needing it while hunting.

Its not always very clear what you need and don't need under varying circumstances.

Things that have been confusing for me:
- Owning/Possessing firearms that have been in my family for years (police station said I need to register and transfer them to me from my father...what about my grandfather's guns, now they are my fathers but no "transfer" ever took place)

- The "borrowing" aspect for hunting. I swear I read that 8 hour rule somewhere, and again does this come into play with my fathers guns vs my guns? According to the police department, I cannot possess his guns at all until he "legally" transfers them to me.

All in all, NJ is a damn Nazi state [down]

if the person with the fid card purchases it,whos name is the gun in mine or his?

also if my friend in pa gets me the gun, what do me and/or my dad need to drive with it?I know it must be enclowed in a case, but i mean lisence wise?

I thought if you were 14 and had a hunting license you were good to go solo... I wouldn't walk down Rt 202 like I used to back in 72. Somebody might hit you. There were few cars then.
yeah in the eyes of fish and wildlife, but in the eyes of nj criminal statutes it falls into the same catagory as the idiots that leave unlocked loaded guns in the vicinity of kids.

Whoever buys it will have the title to it. I suppose when your older they can transfer it you(sell it for $1) or something along those lines. But in the meantime since your underage I don't think they name you as the purchaser. Good God- how many kids would be buying guns then if that was possible?

Does the game code state anyone under a certain age must be supervised? I was always "supervised" because I always hunted with my dad. But for cases like this...its ok for striper to hunt with his bow alone, but not with a gun despite legally having a license to do both?

Is anyone holding a "Youth" license required to have an Adult accompanying them?

kool.also would my dad being a officer for the state of new jersey help get the permit in time?
Technically no, but I'm sure if your dad introduced himself your FID permit would be expeditited, after all this is NJ.

BTW I will only go turkey hunting with you and let you use my shotgun with dad or mom's permission. If they dont want you going, thats the way it is until you're 18.
