With my friggen truck!!![mad]

Man what A morning I had today.. My subaru wouldnt start so I had to take the truck. I get about 3 miles from my house and Bang!! I hit this buck going about 45 miles an hour. I never even had a chance to react. I saw him out of the corner of my eye and that was it, I hit him dead broad side..When he hit I threw him no less than 25 -30 in the air.. I was lucky there was no structual damage.. My Grill, and driver side lights are shot. and the fiber gl [no swearing please] trim but luckily no dent metal.. Anyway, after I hit this deer, its just lying on the road , I thought he was dead for sure so as I asess the situation this buck picks up its head and starts, bobbing back and forth
blinking his eyes and such like a boxers does after getting knocked out.. Just as i say to myself " no friggen way this buck is getting up", he stands up and trots off, with just a slight limp.. I was stuned. Here I am thinking to myself about how I'm going to gut this deer and throw into my truck for brother John, And this thing trots off.. I hit this deer HARD.. Man< I guess it just shows how tough they really are huh?

Sorry to hear about that. Just think how bad the damage would've been if you were in the Subaru. As far as the buck, there's a good chance that he'll die from internal bleeding. Glad you're ok though.

I have never hit a deer that hard.. I am still in shock he got up. I feel bad, he was a real nice buck. probally a slammer next season..
I once hit a deer going so slow it was like I pushed him over.. I could not belive he didnt run.. I tapped him. He kinda just fell over. Got up and stood on the side of the road and looked at me like he was saying ,whats your problem pal?? and just kida casually waled in the woods..

Hey Scrubby- The season is Over! I bet he goes about 200 yards and expires. Sounds like $1500 in damage. That's what I usually pay about every three years on a broadside whack-grille and headlight. That's terrible. Glad you were not hurt and nobody else was involved.

Scrubby that sucks.
It happened to me and my son once in the fog . I had a full-size GMC Jimmy It had a lift in it so the buck hit the bumper then went under the truck and I could hear his bones crunching. We got out there was no real damage to the truck but the deer got up after a few seconds staggerd a few yards than took off running and disappeared into the fog. I thought it was a big 8pt. but my son said it looked like at least a 10pt. We came back later in the day and searched for several hours and found nothing but hair. So I know first hand wow that sucks.Try to go look around for it later, maybe you'll get lucky and find it.

Maybe you can talk to the landowner, and tell them what happened. Explain to them that you'd like to remove the dead deer from their property so no one in their family stumbles upon it. Just a thought.

I will see when I drive by the property if I can find out who owns the land.. Its not like there is a house I can walk up to.. And the leash is a great idea. Ill just cut the antlers off and say my Great Dane is very (lazy) as I drag it out....:D
