After reading an article in my local newspaper about volunteering for all types of good causes and filling in my 2010 calendar for my scheduled NJSFSC & NJOA meetings (all 104 + of them) not including other events, shows, fishing derbys and mentoring that I do , it got me thinking of who else donates their time to promote and protect our sporting traditions for our future generations?

Let me know what you do as a volunteer or would like to do?

This past season was my first for the youth pheasant hunt at assunpink with my pointer, definitely gonna do more. That's where i met you,Jerry,I was actually a walk-in volunteer, you had me fill out paperwork,so i guess i am good for next year. Also, would like to see a volunteer WMA clean up day or two, most of them have garbage everywhere, along roadsides, ranges, etc. It won't be long before these are the only places in NJ that people will be allowed to hunt.

I volunteer with Sunshine Foundation, and NJF&W. Help PBC float stock trout every year. Tried to volunteer for NJOA, a couple times, always get an email, that someone will be in contact, but so far...nothing. Watch, I will assign all my spare time, and NJOA will call.

Great idea!
This is something the Monmouth & Mercer County Federation should look into. I'll bring it up at the next Mon. Cty. meeting and contact Mercer.

Whiskers
PM sent.

The cleanup could be broken down to regions, north, central and south. That way folks who live in those regions would not have to travel that far.Maybe do two WMA'S a year, one in spring one in early fall,or something like that.

Mentor youth pheasant hunt (dog handler), run a TU chapter annual kids' fishing derby for approx. 150+ kids in Jefferson Twp., WCC volunteer doing electro fishing with state biologists, angler creel surveys and trout stocking as well as ruffed grouse drumming surveys (for both the state's WCC program and RGS), numerous fly fishing (casting and tying)demonstrations and instructions for both youth and adults, and Habitat for Humanity for my church. I also made it a personal goal to introduce at least 1 new hunter each year for the past 4 years and I'm averaging 2 per year so far. Next year my daughter will join me after she gets her hunter safety course under her belt in the summer of '10. I also oversee our gun club property management where we are logging for wildlife habitat.

This state could use a lot more guys like you.

I been hunting & fishing with my daughter for over 17 years now. I still treasure each day in the field with her. Good luck & safe hunting to you & your daughter.

I'm always afraid that by talking about all the things you volunteer for, it may appear that you're doing them for the wrong reasons. I know a few people that volunteer for stuff all the time and never once make mention of it to anyone. So I'll just say I volunteer for things both hunting and non-hunting related.

It makes you feel good to volunteer and help out! So I understand wanting to share it and encourage it.[up][up]

To all volunteers![up][up]

Couldn't have said it better. Why pat yourself on the back you lose you blessing this way.

What you do with no ackknowledgement is where you get your reward from out of the goodness of your hearts.

You should never shed light onto what you do for others or are you feeding your own addictions still and calling it volenteer?

Try going somewhere and doing something you never have done before or even thought you could do and try it that has nothing to do with what you like?

Don't get us wrong though what your doing is still a great thing because there are needs but just maybe not talk about it would be better?:D

I've done some things, don't like to talk about them because I do it because I love my sport. Jesus says if you do something good and brag about it, you receive the praise of men, but if you do something good and keep quiet about you receive praise from God!

I recieve my praise from God!
