just bought a adjustible grunt tube, primos trophy grunter and i don't know what 'yd' stands for...

its has
eb - esterus bleat
db - doe bleat
dg - doe grunt
yd
mb - mature buck
tb - trophy buck

anyone know what the other stands for?

All I know is, most calls on the market suck in my opinion.
Except for the True Talker. My uncle used to have penned deer. I would always listen to his buck grunt and imo...the true talker is the most lifelike sounding grunt tube out there. I have never spooked a buck with the true talker. I have had bucks pay no attention to it, but never spooked one.

I agree....It's the closest and my favorite, but it's still not exact. Not in my opinion anyway.

In my opinion, nothing recreates the contact grunts and just about all doe noises with much accuracy.

What most grunt calls reproduce well is the loud tending grunt that bucks will let out when trying to get a doe to stand for breeding. In that respect, they all sound pretty good. They are certainly accurate at replicating that sound.

Problem is, you almost never hear that in the woods. I've heard a total of maybe 6 LOUD tending buck grunts from bucks trying to get does to stand for them in around 20 years of interacting with whitetails.

What you hear much more often is softer contact grunts and bleats. You can also get away with using those kinds of calls WAY more frequently.

Deer actually make those sounds a lot, but they aren't audible to us from much more than like 20 yards or so.

I've actually sat in my stand just making soft contact grunts with my mouth almost all day. It brings in deer if they get close enough to hear it.[up][up]

he has the grunt tube you play like a flute i have the same one probaly it means young doe sounds like the can that is muffled works good on does that are with yearlings not in range makes them feel comfort thinking theres more moms with ther young

I've only heard a few deer grunt. The last one was a small basket 6 pt. guess he was 2 1/2 yr old.

I swear it was a pig coming outta of the swamp before i saw him. His nose was literally up a does ass and she was trottin and he wasnt stoppin for nothing. I was surprised at how high pitched it was.
It sounded just like a pig on a farm.
It was bow season so no shot was offered.
