I wear these silk socks with my 1500 thinsulates. It wicks the wet away from my feet. I also walk real slow and tie most of my layers around my waist for the walk.

You have to carry your sitting boots and socks and change into them when you get there. No way around it for 100% warmth. I have a pair of "ICEBREAKER" boot blankets that add a lot of seat time when slipped over any boot ... early cold season hikers walked in ... to late season heavily insulated carried in. ( http://www.icebreakerinc.com/php/index.php ) Don't get the "Artic Sheild" brand though ... they perform poorly.

If you are going to be in the stand all day, you got to buy a pair of artic shield boot blankets or the other ones I don't know who makes them but you can go to e-bay and do a search for boot blankets. When you get to your stand, take off your boots, shake up a couple of hot hand, hand wormers and put one in each boot blanket, now put your feet in the boot blankets without your boots, then when ever your ready put your boots back on and put your feet back in the blankets or just put your boots on when your ready to go home.

Well the way i see it if you take everyones advise you can get by with about only a grand spent, lol. I have had this problem for 30 yrs now. Ive tried the best irish setter boots to the cheepest rubber boots. I now use muck woody max one size bigger to the stand ( and look for water to walk through to keep cool) then put in foot warmers once im there. if its real cold i will add on my boot blankets. nice and toasty.

Get thin thermax or polyethylene liner socks and put them on first. Next a good thick wool or wool-like sock. The liner pulls the sweat off into the wool.

If that does not work then change socks at your tree stand. Yeah it's a hassle but if you can't stay still the deer will spot you.

I have done the 2 layer for years. 800 gram thinsulate boots most days, 1200 gram boots for 32 degrees or lower. Be sure you have a good head covering too and hand warmers.

I wear 1200gram Arctic Bearclaws with wool socks and the toes are the only part I've ever had any problems with, no matter how low the temps go. I throw a pair of toe warmers in there and I'm good to go. I take them out right before I abandon the stand for the mid-day stalk, and then put in a fresh pair for the afternoon sit.

First I put on the anti-persperant, then the silk liners, then a pair of wool socks, then 400 gr thinsulate-gore-tex boots. Then when I'm in my blind or up in my stand I'll put on my Boot Blankets. Thinking of buying 600-800 gr, But tommorow I'll probably just wear work boots and the boot blankets. It's only supposed to go down to about 26* or so.

what works wool sock 8hr grabber toe warmer stick top toe and bottom then 800gm boot i wear lacrosse insulated because of the wet swamp areas that pac liner need to be removed to dry dont want to worry about icy laces

Good info. The spots where I hunt are like 100 yards from my truck so working up a sweat is not that big of an issue for me. I will try wearing wool socks tomorrow and see how it goes. Normally I wear athletic socks, then wool socks. I will try not wearing cotton socks tomorrow and see how it goes....just double-up on wool socks.
