you should of seen what the deer did to 40 acers of melons on the farm that i hunt they cost that poor guy a lot of money and when they were on the mellons that was it you could not get them to eat any thing else

I got a pallet full of Cantelopes years ago, they were going bad and I got the whole load for $10- the guy at the produce stand said deer would love em. I was skeptical, for 3 or 4 days, they didnt touch em. after 5 or 6 days they started eating them. After 10 days ago, I thin every deer in the area was eating them, they destroyed em. Went thru the whole truckload in less than 3 weeks

We had a lot of luck this year with doughnuts. Had some watermelon, cantaloupes, sweet potato too. The only thing they didn't eat is the deer feed pellets.

I tried sweet potatoes, corn, watermelon, but nothing works as well as apples, for me. There was 2 does eating the apples, a down got down wind of me and started snorting, they did not move off that pile until they had there fill.[patcheye]

I ran into doughnuts in Greenwood Years ago this is only the second time I have ever heard or saw doughnuts being used for deer bait. Bear bait yes

Mellons work, but expensive if you have to purchase for anything close to full price, apples work depending on the area, corn for some reason this year they are hammering it along with my apples... Pumpkins, work good too... plenty of free ones in the neighborhood, saves people the trouble of throwing them away.
