This will be my first season hunting muzzy. I understand that between hunts, you can just remove the percussion cap, and the gun is considered "unloaded."

My concern is with condensation forming from repeated cooling and warming of the barrel. I don't have the option to store the gun outside in a garage. How many "freeze thaw" cycles can a gun go through reliably before you have to worry about condensation inactivating the powder?

yeah its my first muzzy season too..i was going to post something like this...i was thinking fo pushing it out everytime..but if it wont hurt the gun i may leave it in...[confusedagain]

once i load the gun, i will run that load for a week. less if it rains a lot. more if the weather is dry and the same temp.
i will sometimes cock the hammer and lean the nipple over the heater vent over night, to dry out the powder.
i still shoot a side lock.

I'll leave my flintlock loaded for a few weeks with never a problem, case it and don't bring it into the house, leave in a shed, unheated garage or your truck.

Yep, leave it in the case. The condensation will occur with SUDDEN changes in Temp. The case will make the change gradual.

I've grabbed my Chuck rifle and run out of my Air Conditioned house into the 90deg. air, only to find the scopes outside lenses FOGGED, and a ground hog laughing at me...
