Met my buddy at our zone 5 spot. As pull in, his cousin comes out of the woods and says he shot a buck and can't find him. We go in to search and find the deer in 5 minutes. After field dressing and a few pictures, we decide to scrap our hunt and help him transport, tag, and butcher his deer. On our way out, the landowners grandson and his 2 buddies are walking up the dirt road. The grandson is in full camo and facemask with a bow. His 2 buddies both have shotguns and orange vests. None had a license. As soon as he approaches us he says, "hey man, I hope you don't mind, I cleared out all the "brush" by your stand and built a ground blind around it". WTF? He says his buddies are gonna do some squirrel hunting while he bowhunts! WTF? He looks in the back of my truck and says "YOU SHOT MY BIG 6!" WTF? We poke and prod with a few questions and one of the guys slips by saying they're gonna guard the ladder stand for "THE BEAR" while the other bowhunts! WTF. We were all dumbfounded by these 3 stooges. I have no idea what the real story was, I just know these yahoos ruined my spot. My buddy and I spent hours putting up stands, carefully clearing shooting lanes, and moving stands around. He comes in with a quad and chainsaw and undoes all our hard work! Some people! WTF? No licenses, t-shirts and shotguns, and a pack of Newports!!!

Sounds like your buddy got that buck just in time.

Anyway, your screwed, unless your leasing, the grandsons gonna win. Your taking the right approch if you want to keep hunting there. Sometimes, you just gotta put up with the B.S. Hopefully with the 6 pointer gone, this kid's gonna lose interest and go away.

Last year during 6-day, i was going to my stand, and pproching my dads stand (closer in the woods) There was some guy in there, just chilling out. He was friends with another guy that hunts the property (which is my uncles by the way). the guy had no car and was dropped off but his other friend.

I feel you pain!!

My buddy was at the farm today and took a pic of what those three stooges did. Keep in mind that brush surrounded my ladderstand and wasn't visible from any angle the first 4'. They cleared huge area around my stand and it sticks out like a sore thumb. My buddy says 15 yards away there are 3 shit piles and toilet paper everywhere. This stand was set in a great location where 4 trails intersect. One from a brushy bedding area, one from some pines, one from top of a rise, and one from a corn field. This stand was about 15 yards from a creek too. It was perfect. Last year about 5 deer where taken from this area. The year before I personally took 3 from this area including a decent 8. Now there are 3 guys hunting from this stand/ground blind combo AT THE SAME TIME. One with a bow and 2 with a shotgun. Ruined! All the natural cover has been removed. I don't know what they are thinking.

I hate to say this Ducati but I think your time on this property is limited...It wont be long before the grandson wants the land for himself and his friends...All he needs to see are a few more bucks taken by your group and he will start to pressure his grandfather....

In the meantime, looks like it is time to move your ladder stand...

We know! A ton of good deer came out of this place over the last 25 years. I've only been hunting it 4 years now, but my buddy has since he was a kid. It's a shame.

My buddy asked me not to until the end of the season. He wants to hunt there with his old man at least one more time during shotgun, and doesn't want me to pull the stand and trigger an incident. I'll respect his wishes.

Screw him (the kid/grandson) I'd call the game warden since the kid didn't even have a hunting license. Somebody else would do it to you if you didn't have yours. THINK ABOUT IT.

OR on the other-hand I would approach the Grandfather and talk to him like a man and tell him what his grandson did. You have proof of before and after with the pictures.. You have all the right to do so and when the grandfather sees what the kids did he'll beat his ass hopefully if not his old man will.

How old are these kids anyway???
