My neighbor and I share an excellent 22 acre block of woods in south jersey. We have both taken many nice bucks from this property over the last 10 years. Our piece is a rectangle, but it isn't very wide. You can see across to the other side. Our neighbor who doesn't hunt, but is not against it insists on walking his dog through the woods almost every afternoon when he gets home from work. On weekends he does it in the morning and the afternoon. The problem is that he has paths cut along the entire boundary line of the property, and that is where he walks. He stays on his property, (barely) but his dog sometimes but rarely wanders onto our piece. When he walks through he spooks the deer and we are getting fed up. We talked to him about it but he stops for awhile, but then starts again. My neighbor even offered to let him walk the dog in his small field during hunting season so the woods will keep quiet. Is there anything that we can do or are we screwed?????

you could give him some money[[wallmad]hihi] If not bait real heavy for the deer. If that dosn't work bait real heavy whith dog food at the begining so the dog will want to stay put & fill his mug.[rofl][rofl][patcheye]

How long has this been going on? If this is a daily ritual and he's been doing this for a year or more, I would think the deer would get used to this and become somewhat tame. I have woods at the end of my street where there is no hunting allowed. Homeowners are always down there dumping grass and leaves into the woods and kids riding their bicycles in the woods. The deer don't run off. They are cautious, but hold their ground and return to normal bedding/feeding after people pass.

i hunt a property that has a walking trail. the land owners use it all season. i have killed deer 5-10 minutes after they pass through.

Dress up in a black bear costume, hide in the woods and wait for the guy to walk his dog. Then let your presence be known. Maybe that will discourage him. Oh, try not to get shot by the local PD.

The bear idea is really funny.....
But like the others have said, he has the right to walk his dog. And yes the deer will come back in a very short time period after he leaves. It has happened to me & I have a nice 10 pointer mounted to prove

nothing you can do.. happens to me on my best property. Guy up the street walks his dogs everymorning and evening around all the fields of all farms ajoining his yard. he cuts right down next to our shooting range on his way out along my favorite swamp to hunt and aound outside of my favorite field to hunt.. He will walk right under you even when he sees you.. I had him spook a real nice 8 pointer that was on his way to me. I was standing, bow in hand fingers on the string ready to shoot. Here comes the dog walker and the 3 muts.. Bye bye 8 pointer.. [wallmad] he has permission to walk the dogs but has been asked to watch where he goes during hunting season and maybe change his route up a little to stay away from stands that he knows are there. he never does though.. You pretty much answered your own question when you stated he stays on his property. Not everyone hunts and it seems his thing is to walk the dogs through the woods. Not much you can do but learn to work around his routine. I know if it were me and a neighbor asked me not to use my property to walk my dogs and it's something I routinely do I would be upset.

Keep talking to your neighbor and stay friendly eventually he may come around. If you turb=n him into an anti hunter by hurting his dog he can cause a lot more trouble than just walking through HIS own property.

give me an f'n break if i told you to jump into on going traffic would you? same with hurting the dog obviuosly it was not to be taken literally... people sure like to jump down others throats on here! and f the anti's sick of here about them... god forbid they cut and pasted that. It was meant to be funny and thats that

Not much you can do besides talking to him calmly. Or you may have to go much further back on your property to avoid contact. But like the others said, if he has been doing it for a while the deer are probably already used to it.

Keyboard Courage. I would drop some ex-lax along his walking path on my property. Maybe dip it in a little dog food first.

That was the stupidest statement I have heard yet on this site
I don't know, I have read some pretty stupid stuff on here. But its in the running, even as a joke.

Nothing you can do, its his property, his dog. Its frustrating, but your helpless. I hunt a small piece that is surrounded by Forsythe (sp?), its private property, the property owners live on it. Their kids are 100 yards away playing squealing, etc. I still kill deer out of there. The edge between the house and the woods is so thick you cannot see into the woods, or the house. Yup, I have permission, in fact they named me property manager to keep other folks off. Its only 9 acres, but Forsythe surrounds it.

hey modman where is this property exactly . i have this similar problem happing where i am . my buddies grandparents own a piece of property in sj and this guy walks his dog down their driveway and spooks my deer . wouldnt be by mt misery would it?
