One of those days where it was happening. Several new rubs and scrapes appeared around my stand and I figured, while early in the pre-rut, lets get aggressive with the grunt and can this afternoon. I was in stand for 45 minutes when a bunch of does were scattering in the oaks...bucks pushing[up][up]. 3 shots on the grunt tube and Mr. 8 comes in on a string...and meets a Thunderhead at 16 yards. A 60 yard sprint and U turn puts him on the ground in less than 8 seconds in sight of my stand. Amazing how after so many years chasing whitetails my legs still turn to rubber and my heartbeat can be heard 2 counties away!
