ok so i got some advice on what are the best climber treestands but now i have a problem, where do i buy it?

i need it before this weekend so i can't order it online unless i want to pay a lot extra for shipping and overnight delivery.

harrys, dicks, sportsmanscenter, a&m don't have summit viper or anything close to it in store. mostly everything is sold online.

anyone have any ideas where to buy in-store?

Ok I called a few different Dick's and finally got the answer I was looking for. One guy found ONE in the back, stashed below a bunch of Viper Classic Extremes.

$279.99, good price for Summit Viper SS?

Treewalker stands are far superior to the viper in every way. :)[up]

Do a search on archerytalk.com and you will see nothing but good review.

These stands are more comfortable, lighter, cabable of climbing larger trees, and are all rated up to 350 lbs. You also do not need to strap the top to the bottom to transport. The tolerances are so tight that the top wedges into the bottom and will not pull apart unless you do it on purpose.

i have a treewalker also. The cables can be annoying with the pin in the morning but its light and pretty quiet. I like the screws in the back..they really sink into that tree

I have the viper ss...got it from dicks 2 years ago but have seen em recently

theirs no way a tree walker is better then a viper the viper is so easy to put up and is light and the nice padded seat makes sitting long very easy you might just fall asleep but not a problem with a viper your safe just if your gun hunting a hook would be a good idea so if you dose you dont drop your gun my bow i keep my wrist band on so i dont worry

I'm with you Bayonne. Viper over Treewalker.
A mesh seat? Come on, that isn't comfortable.

I'd also recommend a bow holder that attaches onto the seat arm. For $10 it can hold the bow within reach and not have to hang from a tree or hold onto it the whole time. It's a must have.

check out patsoutdoorstore.com...Pat's a member on this site....talk to him before you buy....
Yeah my friend njgunner knows Pat and he advised me to talk to him but since I need this stand in a hurry, he won't be able to help me much.

I'm going to checkout the viper tomorrow or Thursday and I'll post if I end up getting it.

Thanks for the help guys! I'm going to upstate NY this weekend to bowhunt so hopefully I'll come back with pictures of my record buck. [smoke]

depending on where you are in NJ...Dick's in Mays Landing has some Summit Viper stands....I don't remember the price, though....they also had an less expensive steel climber for around 100.00...pretty heavy...but if you don't have to carry it far...might be the way to go

I'm located in Ocean Township, so the Dick's in Freehold is where I usually go. I called 3 or 4 different locations and none of them have Summit Viper SS in, only on the website. What they have in-store is the Summit Classic Extreme.

BUT, luckily one of the Dick's I called still had one, they found it underneath a few other Viper Extremes in the back warehouse.

I am more than willing to compare the viper side by side vs the Treewalker.

I used to have a viper and it was not nearly as comfortable or convenient to use as the Treewalker.

I have shown the Treewalker to 5 friends and they immediatly bought it after seeing how easy it is to use.

As far as set up it is in my opinion quieter then the summit because the summit cable rattles inside the tubing. The viper also creaks and groans and doesn't bite into the tree nearly as well as the treewalker. I am 6'2" and weigh 250 down from 280 last year and the treewalker has never creaked or groaned and I have now had it 3 seasons. The viper did the first time I ever used it. The cable on the treewalker is yellow at the end so you can see it in the low light and fights snugly inside the cable to always have the hole line up with the hole in the tubing. If you are having issues with noise you are rushing the set up and will have the same issue with any treestand.

As far as the mesh seat it is super comfy. I bought the foam seat pad they offer and have never used it. The seat also sits far higher in the frame so if you bowhunt the frame is lower to clear your lower limb easier while still sitting comfortably high something no other stand offers other than an Ol Man which also uses mesh seats.

Do the research as I said in my previous post and I am more than willing to show you mine and then you can make an educated decision. I know what stand you will pick after seeing and trying both side by side! :D

i know someone selling a brand new treewalker for 200 bucks:D
