The NJDEP's Division of Fish and Wildlife is conducting the annual Youth Pheasant Hunt this Saturday, November 1. The hunt provides an opportunity for young hunters to learn and experience hunting in a non-competitive atmosphere prior to the regular season opening day.

Registration for the morning's guided hunts has closed but the following Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) will re-open for self-guided hunting at 1:00 p.m. No registration is necessary for the self-guided hunt, but only those possessing a Youth Hunting License may hunt. The hunt will take place on the following areas:

Whittingham
Black River
Clinton
Assunpink
Colliers Mills
Millville
Peaslee
Winslow

The Division is pleased to announce that the areas will be restocked with additional birds after the guided hunts. The freshly stocked WMAs will reopen at 1:00 p.m. for youth hunters only.

For more information about the Youth Pheasant Hunt and other youth hunts, visit NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife - Youth Pheasant Hunt Saturday, November 1; Extra Afternoon Birds To Be Stockedon the Division's website.

This is a great day for the kids. This will be my son's 3rd year going to Clinton. The folks that volunteer their time and especially the people that volunteer their dogs are truly a fantastic bunch of people. I would highly encourage anyone trying to teach their children how to hunt with others and dogs, they not miss this next year. Looking forward to Saturday.
