Went to the club this afternoon to look for some left over birds. We got four flushes out of 2 pheasants and three flushes out of 2 woodcock. The phez went down, I really didn't know if woodcock were still in season. So let them fly.

These were the first woodcock my dog has ever flushed. Loved the way they flushed. I think I will start targeting them next year. Any advice on where to find them, or on any training excercises specific to woodcock? Today I found them in small cedars.

The best thing to do is just expose the dog to as many of them as you can. The dog will figure it out pretty quick. What area where you in today?

Wet areas they eat worms. In the north they used to migrate thru in early november. I've read they assemble in Cape may to fly across the bay, have fun[up] Many times you can flush the same bird twice[up]

Late migration due to the warm weather. changes on a dime get back out there or they will be gone[up]

Went out looking today in Ocean county along the coast and did not find any in typical spots I do see them.
