It was on my buddies lawn in passaic county. Walked like a turkey but with a long Orange beak almost raptorish.


It was young. I could've walked up and grabbed it.

Chukar. They are legal to hunt although I've only used them for dog training. Some say they taste like chicken. Probably an escape from a bird farm or preserve. I'm not sure if they are wild in NJ.

how many guys are going to post the same thing? I think its been established what kind of bird it is ten times already..no need to make it 11 and so on[ko][ko][ko][ko][ko][ko][ko]

Last time I saw one in the wild was in the 80's. They make a hell of a racket upon taking off.[eek]

There are quite a few in Jersey during December, just look up in the Pear trees.:D

It's a chukar. I use them for dog training. They are not indigenous to NJ. It's an adult bird.[smoke]

Not sure, but I think it may be a chukar. Someone probably was training their bird dogs with it or something.
