(Tom’s River) – The Jersey Shore Council, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) will host the Trailblazer Adventure Program on October 8, 2005 at the Joseph A. Citta Scout Reservation in Tom’s River, NJ.
The Trailblazer Adventure Program, a program from the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation, is designed to expose families to outdoor activities and offer them the chance to engage in the activities through a year-long mentoring program. Hundreds of Scouts and their families will participate in the upcoming Trailblazer Adventure Day.
Groups involved in the program include the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation, the Jersey Shore Council, BSA, the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife and numerous other sportsmen’s groups and businesses.
These partners are giving young people the chance to experience numerous outdoor activities including archery, shooting safety and instruction, trapper education and many other conservation education activities.
The Trailblazer Adventure Program is endorsed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s STEP OUTSIDE Program. Trailblazer’s success is only possible because of the many groups working together to give this opportunity to youth and their families.
“The Jersey Shore Council, the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife and many others have been great partners in promoting the Trailblazer Adventure Program,” said U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation Education Director Frank Price. “With their help, the Trailblazer Adventure Day will give families the initial exposure to activities like shooting and, through the Trailmaster mentoring program, will help retain those newcomers.”
Corporate sponsors include businesses such as Beretta USA Corp.; Bushnell Performance Optics; Cabela’s, Inc.; Cannon Safe, Inc.; Cap America, Inc.; Charles Daly; Classic Accessories; Hunter’s Specialties; KA-BAR Knives/Cutco Cutlery; Licensed Specialty Products; Michaels of Oregon Co.; North Fork Bancorporation; Target Communications; Venom Manufacturing and Winchester Ammunition.
The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation is working in partnership with the Boy Scouts of America, Fur Takers of America, International Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies, International Hunter Education Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, individual state wildlife agencies and sportsmen’s clubs to make the program a success nationwide.
