Hello all. I used to fish saltwater when I lived down the shore but that was over a decade ago. I now live near streams and ponds in Passaic County stocked with trout and I'd love to try fishing for them. I know I need a license, but what else. I have no idea on spinning reels, what # line, lures, etc. Any help greatly appreciated and feel free to PM me.

Depends where you want to go ... You have some great streams in passaic county pequanic ramapo wanaque and pompton river area all great places to go. I would go with a any spinning reel that you like and a ultra light rod. No more than 4 lbs test. As far as bait you can go with worms, salmen eggs, power bait, and spiners to name a few.

I agree with Remington .... bait fishing is fun, but set yourself up with some little inline spinners on an ultraweight rod/reel combo. Nothing hard or techincal fishing with spinners. Really nice now with cool water running. Ramapo River is great, though its been many years since I've gone up there.

Ramapo's nice. Park in the truck stop on 17S, go behind the place and follow the dirt trail. Leads you to the other side across from 202. I try to park near the back, but be careful not to get blocked in by any rigs.
