GG and HighGuy, what do you think of Manfrotto 190XWNB Wilderness Tripod Kit
with Manfrotto 128RC Pan Head. I know the legs are great but what about this fluid head?

Your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

The Manfrotto 190XWNB Wilderness Tripod Kit is exactly what I have. I have two 128rc heads and they work just fine.
The 701 and 501 are better heads but also more bling.
Also... I'm not sure the Wilderness kit is still available.

GG, I found one:D I know noticed the 701 is more $$$ but for what I am filming I would think that kit is plenty. Thanks for the response.[up][up][up]

Thanks Mike for the info. I just ordered the Manfrotto 190XWNB Wilderness Tripod Kit that comes with the 128 fluid head. So I will use that and look to the 701 if I was to find it not smooth enough. Again, for just recording hunts for friends and family I think it might be enough but if not I would look at the 701.

Thanks again for the advise[up][up]

G.G.

I like the camo ghillie you have over the camera. does it interfere with camera operation at all?
Sorry Mike,,I missed this entry...
I only used it over the whole camera one time and it was not a problem. I can still see the LCD screen and I use the controller so getting to the focus ring is not an issue. The LCD screen holds it away from the camera body enough that I can access most of the setting, such as the lighting and exposure dail.Plus the Ghille cover helps conceal me also. A problem may occur if I had to get to the other adjustments but once the manual setting are set. It shouldn't be an issue.
Most of the time I just cover the tripod legs and drape it over my knees as I'm sitting on the ground.
The ghille cover is worth having..Quite..Lite weight, and conceals well. It also provides plenty of padding when I'm not useing it, as I carry it in the back pouch of my vest.

Not mine yet. I filmed a couple of buddies and the footage came out great. Actually the last hunt we had we had to set up quickly since the birds were on top of us. I was on the edge of a hedgerow and the birds came walking in front of me at 12 paces. I panned real slow as they were in front of me and they never saw me. It was cool[up]

Question, I just recieved my 190XWNB Wilderness Tripod Kit, which is really cool like you said GG. Do you guys leave on the rubber feet or change them out for the srew out spike feet?

Thanks,

Will, I switched to the screw out spiked feet. But I rarely use the spikes. Nice to know they are there when you need them.
I also carry the tripod with the two foam rubber 'hand grips' resting on my shoulder. And the legs extended slightly, Makes for a very comfortable way to carry.

How do you like the 128RC head ?
