I was wondering if anyone traps. I used to trap muskrats in '88 and '89. I used conibears and still have the traps and strechers.

What is the best way to handle the dried pelts?
Where is the best place to sell them?
If anyone does trap, what do you trap and with what?

Nice pics! If I remember I was getting 6.00 per rat for each of the 2 years I trapped. Then it dropped to about 2.00 per rat.

As far as the handling, I noticed you have the chuck on the board with the fur out. I have wire strechers and used to have the fur in...does that matter? Is it best to save them for the season and sell them all at once, or a few at a time? Can you freeze them to preserve them longer?

ask your buyer what he wants. some want a few little things, that will help you when it's time to sell. taylor your put up to the man giving you the cash.

if you need the gas money as you go, sell some. if your ok, then cash in at one time. the prices sometimes change weekly. if the prices are good, unload. but they could go up after you sell, they could go down.
sell fresh. stale goods bring less money.
the chuck is for a fly tyer. fur out seemed the way to go for that sale. there really isn't a fur market for them. if you find one let us all know.:D

GG, you always have great pics. a few i haven't seen yet. the first picture-the wet one looks sad. wet k9's look like hell don't they. the third red in that picture looks like a slight color phase. not a single cherry hair on that one. last picture- you have some nice tips on those. not many like that down here, well not many reds down here either.

Nice pics! I live in Northern Jersey, Verona to be exact. If there are not many local buyers, what do you do? Do you have to mail them out? Is there a website to checkout?
