heres the story: i grew up in NJ, got the Firearms ID card and then have to move to PA. I purchased a few handguns while i was living there. recently moved back to NJ and was wondering what process i have to go through to have the guns in NJ legally. all help appreciated...thank you.

When you apply for the ID card at your local PD, you'll apply for a permit for each handgun. At least that's what I had to do when I moved to NJ 12 years ago.

handguns must be registered at the local police dept.
No such thing as mandatory firearm registration.

Only voluntary.

Existing legally owned handguns and other firearms DO NOT need to be registered in NJ.
Really, maybe I was overly cautious, but they told me at the PD, I needed to have a permit for each hangun, so that's what I did. [confused]
