It was the dogs fault for provoking the bear. The story was in yesterdays paper. I couldn't find it online.
WEST MILFORD - A bear wandering in a yard killed the dog of a West Milford teenager Tuesday.
The mauling took place on Deborah Lane. Irene Sanchez Bang says her 4-year-old Jack Russell Terrier snuck out for only an instant when the bear attacked.
Bears are commonplace in the area's yards, according to neighbor Maryann Lindstrom. Her dog was also attacked by a bear a few years ago, but survived.
The neighbors agree the state should step in and quash what's become a mounting bear problem.
"It's just been getting worse and worse every year," says Lindstrom. "There's so many bears around here."
How many dogs have to die before the state acts? The neighbors agree the state should step in and quash what's become a mounting bear problem.
"It's just been getting worse and worse every year," says Lindstrom.
