State agency to unveil new system for purchasing licenses
Tuesday, July 19, 2005
BY FRED J. AUN
For the Star-Ledger
Those attending last week's meeting of the state Fish and Game Council got to see the future of buying hunting and fishing licenses in New Jersey. To George Howard, the future appeared more functional than futuristic.

Howard, conservation director of the New Jersey Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, said the so-called "point-of-sale" (POS) unit presented at the council meeting "looked like a cross between an adding machine and a computer."

Great. Now all we need is the same sort of technology for game checking!

Instead of having to drive half way across a county to find out that (a) the place is closed or (b) "they're wrong, we don't check deer any more", why can't I just go back where I got my license and fill in a form, or scan my license, or stand with my deer in front of a cheap digital camera (like a security camera) to see that its me, its my license, its my deer, now give me the *&&%$*^% posession seal and let me go home!!!!
