A 105-pound bear cub kept Pequannock Township police officers busy for nearly 10 hours, as the animal ran through residents' yards, crawled onto a porch and came near curious onlookers on three occasions, officials said yesterday.
But the 18-month-old cub finally met its match in the form of -- believe it or not -- Smokey the dog. The 135-pound Newfoundland sent the cub shimmying up a tree, where officials tranquilized it.
