Ahhh, shoot. No I mean literally. Saturday morning at 8:30am I see two does, one full size and one fawn, straight ahead of me ~ 50 yards out. They are slowly walking, stopping, and eating. They manage their way in, and the whole time, they are behind some sort of cover, or out of range. They make their way in and to my left. They get behind some brush ~ 20 yards ahead of me, and I slowly draw my bow back. Just as they start to get into my clear lane, they pick up the pace and quickly walk to my left. Since I haven't ever tried to do the stop'em and shoot technique, I let them walk figuring they'll stop shortly. NOPE! They walked their butts out of range.
Ok, for you veteran bow hunters, I know in theory how to get them to stop. But, I know that once to call them, you'll have to take the shot pretty quickly. Does anyone have any method to practice such a shot? How would you do this? And how much time do you have to take the shot after calling?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
David
