Guys, anyone know the laws regarding shipping an intact shotgun to and from a gunsmith in another state for repair?

If you have to ship it intact you are required to tell them its a firearm. I had to go through fedex when I shipped my pistol for a trigger job. It required it to be overnighted and insured which raped me up the wazoo and cost me $55 each way. If your gunsmith is an FFL you might be able to goto a gun store near you and have it shipped cheaper via USPS. Only FFL to FFL can use USPS I beleive.

That only applies to handguns. Long guns can be shipped USPS, UPS, or Fedex.
