Anyone here ever fish the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY? I always try to make it up 1 or 2 times a year. I was just reading some of the local reports, and MAN, did they get hammered with rain. For those of you familiar with the river flows on the river, the flow right now is at 6000 cfs. That's insane!

Hey Andy...The river is going to be unfishable for some time. I usually go up for labor day weekend and fish the derby. I tow the boat up and launch from Lighthouse marina at the mouth of the river.. I couldn't do it this year because of Alaska..My wife would kill me! Here is a pic of us trolling last year..

My uncle goes up then. I only fished the river once about 7 yrs ago. It was a little too crowded for me to enjoy it so I never went back. I love fishing the lake...

I HAVE FISHED THE RIVER MANY YEARS, I GO TO DOUGLASTONS AT THE LOWER END JUST UP FROM THE JOSH HOLE AND MOST FISHERMEN HIT IT HARD FOR THE FIRST 2-4 HOURS. THE FISH ARE GETTING PUSHED AROUND JUST LIKE DEER HUNTING BUT THEY CALM DOWN AFTER THE CROWDS LEAVE AND YOU WILL HAVE THE PLACE PRETTY MUCH TO YOURSELF AND YOU CAN SIGHT FISH. GO FROM HOLE TO HOLE WITH THE POLARIZED GLASSES AND PICK THEM LIKE GRAPES. THIS I CAN SAY THE FIRST 2 HOURS IN THE MORNING EVEN THOUGH ITS A MAD HOUSE, THE ACTION IS FAST AND EXCITING! GOOD LUCK.

Racked Out, I don't fish the DSR because I don't think I need to pay $25 this year, to fish. The other thing is the people they have patrolling can be ball busters about snagging/lifting fish when sightfishing, even though 90% of the people on the river are doing it. I always fish the area of river in between the black hole and the little black hole. This is the area just above the DSR, and it's very productive. Like you said, it's crazy and crowded early on, but come 10 or 11 am, a lot of guys leave, and it calms down.
