Despite the fact that I used my not-so-smart phone and submitted a typo, No one else thought it was a bit late for a buck to be chasing does. I realize that some does come into heat early or mid January, but on the 24th?
Hell yeah they are still chasing here and there, they do it this time of year every year, IMO most people stop hunting this late and just don't see it because they are not in the woods.
While dragging out a deer 2 days ago on a trail I wouldn't normaly be on, I found a fresh scrape ,including the licking branch. Dragged my doe right on by. Should give the spot some extra scent and might be worth a sit when the weather clears up a bit.[patcheye] About 2 years ago I came upon a fresh road kill still warm. It was a fawn with spots and this was in Dec. so it must have been born pretty late in the season.
