If it's a magnum caliber type of scope it should hold up to the recoil, but the eye relief may not be adequate.

:D The only real difference is eye relief. Shotgun scopes have a longer one to protect from slug gun recoil.

I just bought one for my muzzleloader and it's got some awesome glass. The scope has bullet drop compensation out to 300 yards and is designed for specific loads for both shotgun and muzzleloader.
