I read these seasons over and honestly can't believe this. Add in the fact that there is now Sunday bowhunting and crossbows. It is basically a free for all until February. What a disgrace.

Whats next, hand grenade season in early october.

***********************************

REGULATION SET #6: ZONES - 5, 17, 19, 25, 42, 48
• Legal hunting hours: 1⁄2 hour before sunrise to 1⁄2 hour after sunset.
• For more details, see Deer Hunting Regulations, page xx.
• Note: Only one antlerless permit, per zone, may be purchased in each permit season. If a hunter purchases an antlerless permit for
more than one zone in a season, the Antlered Buck Permit is valid for a ONE TIME USE in only ONE of the corresponding zones for
that season. Properly licensed hunters are still limited to ONE antlered buck per season, regardless of the number of antlerless
permits purchased.
Fall Bow:
First deer must be antlerless: Sept. 12-Oct. 2, 2009
First deer may be antlered or antlerless: Oct. 3-30, 2009
Season bag limit is unlimited antlerless deer and ONE antlered deer.
Permit Bow: Oct. 31 -Dec. 24, 26-31, 2009 Season bag limit is unlimited antlerless deer. ONE antlered deer may be
harvested if the Antlered Buck Bow Permit is purchased. (See Note above.)
Youth Day - Bow: Sept. 26, 2009
Youth Day - Firearm: Nov. 21, 2009 Season bag limit is one deer of either sex for any qualified youth hunter only. Any
deer harvested by a qualified youth hunter accompanied by a similarly licensed, non-shooting adult mentor is NOT included
as part of the bag limit for the Fall Bow or Six-day Firearm Season.
Six-day Firearm: Dec.7-12, 2009 Season bag limit is two antlered deer. However, if a hunter harvests two antlered deer,
he/she forfeits the opportunity to harvest an antlered deer during the Permit Shotgun Season. Only one buck may be taken
at a time.
Winter Bow: Jan. 1-30, 2010 Season bag limit is unlimited antlerless deer and ONE antlered deer.
Permit Muzzleloader:
Antlered or Antlerless: Nov. 30; Dec. 1, 14, 15, 19-24, 26-31, 2009;
Jan. 1- 30, 2010
Antlerless deer only: Dec. 7-12, 2009
Season bag limit is unlimited antlerless deer. ONE antlered deer may be harvested if the Antlered Buck Muzzleloader Permit
is purchased. However, if the hunter chooses not to purchase the Antlered Buck Muzzleloader Permit, then the bag limit is
unlimited antlerless deer only. Two deer may be taken at a time. (See Note above.)
Permit Shotgun Season:
Antlerless deer only: Dec. 7-12, 2009
Antlered or Antlerless: Dec. 16-18, 2009; Jan. 2-30, 2010
Season bag limit is unlimited antlerless deer. ONE antlered deer may be harvested if the Antlered Buck Shotgun Permit is
purchased. However, if the hunter harvests two antlered deer during the Six-day firearm Season, then the bag limit is unlimited
antlerless deer only. Two deer may be taken at a time. (See Note above.)

19 is a mess right now, it's been on the down slope but now it's just terrible. Can barely get any deer moving in that area. I'm hoping that it's better this year but don't see a quick turn around. The worst part about 19 is that it the only reason it's like that is due to the farmers bitching about the deer, but then not letting anyone on their property to hunt. Doesn't make sense.

Alot of my friends over the past few years have been saving money and time and doing hunting trips out of state. I'll be taking at least one trip this year, hopefully two, and spending my hard earned money elsewhere for a quality hunting experience.

This state doesn't have much in the way of quality anymore and quantity is also getting pushed into smaller parcels. there's some good bucks running around, but in the grand scheme of things, when comparing the average buck from out of state, with the largest of the bucks in this state, they aren't way off. This year was my last purchase for an all around license in this state. I'll still buy a bow license and fishing license, maybe even a permit, but that's the extent, until I can afford some property out of state. Until then, one or two hunting trips out of state every year. Not only is the hunting better, but so are the people.

Yep agree 100%[up]

On a side note to many hunters use "hunters for hunger" as an excuse to kill more deer. Take what you need for yourself and possibly one for that orginazation, not all you see.

Boo Hoo.... I hunt Zone 5 and love the regs. If you don't like how things are here, go somewhere else. The rules will never go back to the way you want them, to much money is being made. This is the one thing The state has actually done right in my opinion.

Once I get my fall and extended bucks with the bow on my private land, I'm gonna go postal on state land does with the old mans xbow. The fields will run red and i personally cant wait.[rofl]

I hunt 48 and 49.

49 is a free for all until 3rd week in February.....
But at least 49 is all private there is no public hunting ground in 49 and it has a lot of backyard deer. However 19 and 25 are just taking a beating yr after year. I dont get how 19 borders 23. 19 unlimited sept to feb but 23 is the most strict warton needs to be closed for a few yrs and let the herd rebuild.

There is nothing wrong with these regs.... and they didnt't change from last year except we get to hunt Sundays now which is FANTASTIC! What are you saying too many days, or not enough deer is the reason you don't shoot/see deer? You'd rather pay 100x more for a guided hunt... And that's really hunting??? Come on with this not fair stuff... Like Seedog said you don't have to be a part of the free for all but at least the state is giving more days (which I can admit doesn't help because deer move when people are in the woods) but atleast a guy doesn't have to lose a day of work... I hunt over a 1000 acres in zone 5. Me and my guys have never seen bigger deer or killed bigger ones like we do now... Big bucks are definately out there and the doe population is as strong as its ever been....

"Think we should push for the grenade season in early October when the foilage can be an issue in some spots? "

What a silly question... We should use claymores- more range and directional blast! We can probably take down 15-20 at a time if positioned correctly!

I agree with Beagle 100% The deer hunting is good in NJ. Look at the trail cam pics on here.

If you are not seeing or getting deer, you are not hunting the right place.

Should probably change locations if that is the case.

Plenty of deer, and big ones-- out there.
