I target shoot with handgun. I don't have re-loading equipment or much time for it.

I try to buy my ammo in bulk. About 300 to 600 rounds at a time.

When I practice I shoot about 150 to 200 rounds.

Cabelas and other sites offer bulk ammo for cheap. I have never mail ordered ammo.

Is it restricted in NJ? Has anyone purchased bulk ammo on-line?

Thanks JJoe. I figured NJ would be more restrictive.

You shoot in any competitions pla930?

What ammo do you use? I have a glock .45 model 30, try to get out to practice once a week and I burn through 200-300 rounds a session. Costs me a fortune.

I haven't shot competitive yet. Would like to.

I have an H&K USP in .40sw. I've been using Winchester 180 gr FMJ's, or reloaded swc's and lc's.

Recently tested a batch of Extreme Shock's. [down]
They frag on impact but don't feed well if you stack more than 5.

I'm looking for a compact .45 - narrowed down to Sig or Kahr.

I've been buying ammo at Sports Authority.

The Winchester ammo is about $8 for 50.

I figure if I buy in bulk, I don't have to clean out SA's stock every weekend.

Why a compact?
Why not.
What will I do with it?
Shoot.

I shoot at a range least once a week and like to bring out different guns.

I have a few guns, all are full size. My fiancee likes to shoot as well. She is tiny. My S&W J is not good for her nor is the full size H&K.

She shoots the USP ok but after we tested a few compacts, they fit her grip better. Funny thing, she grouped tighter with the .45acp than with the 9mm.
Why rent when you can own?

I would like her to get a CC permit (next to impossible in NJ). Why? She is a realtor. Many times she has to show properties with unknown individuals on roads less travelled.

The compact would be a practical gun at the range and would be nice when we go on to some defense pistol courses.

Anyone see the Valhalla Course in CO?[up]

Pla,

I like your answers, I was more curious as to why .45. Absolutely nothing wrong with .45, just curious.

Unless somehow politically connected she has no hope of CCW in NJ. That, however, is no reason to be unprotected.

You may want to check out Glock. They have slimline G36 in .45 that is real small and thin. The compact Glock 30 is also nice but in the same size you could look at a Glock 29 in 10mm (my personal favorite for compact carry).

dicks is also at the freehold mall, they bought all the gaylans

I have the glock .45 acp subcompact. My hand is small and it fits perfect. I dont know how gun savvy your fiancee is but I like the glocks better because of the safe action system rather than the 1911 actions.
