We're going to LBI for a few days on Sunday, and one of our family members is bringing a couple surf rods.

What's in the water this time of year? What's good bait? Is morning/evening the best time to go? Thanks!

2 hours of incoming, slack, then 2 hours of out going tide are the best. Blues, Fluke, smaller stripers are a good bet. Always the possibility of a Drum or Kingfish. Clams on a hi-lo set up are good rigs, with enough weight to hold bottom. Good luck, should be a good trip if the weather cooperates.[up]

try bouncin bucktails along the jettis for fluke, as mentioned above there should also be some blues and schooly bass patrolling along too, if you can cast out to the end of the jettis you can probly get some kingfish on clam or squid... good luck

With the water temps as warm as they are i would think the king fish would be biting. I would grab a few king fish rigs and some bloodworms. When the bite is on you'll be catching two at a time!
