I just purchased a new F-150 and I want to get a tonneau cover for it. I have going back and forth in my mind over the benefits of a hard cover vs. a soft and I need the cover to be waterproof and secure so I think I need to go with hard cover. My question is, which one. Does anyone here have any experiece on them? Would be great if I can find a place to put it on too. Here's my new truck :D

If it has to be 100% waterproof, don't go with the Roll N Loc. Great cover and it looks awesome but water does get in from time to time.

I have an 2006 F150 crew with the LEER 700 hard tonneau. I like the look of the Tonneau much better then the cap. However, from time to time the tonneau does limit my capabilites. I was told the ARE hard tonneau where much better then the Leer tonneaus due to the design. Of course this was after I had already had my Leer[wallmad]. The Leer has been good so far for me though. I have had it for 3 years. I paid the extra to get the cover lock wired to my keyless remote. If I had to do it again, I would have saved the extra money and just use the key when I have valuables back there. I have never had any water get it yet.

Nice truck. I've got 2500 miles on my '09, and I've only had it for a month. Just got the call yesterday from the dealer that my tri-fold tonneau is in. I'm going Wednesday to have it put on. I'll let you know how waterproof it is.

I also ordered a set of the rubber F150 mats for it. No sense screwin' up the Lariat floors, right?

The last 2 pickup trucks i had, i put the BlackMax from http://www.extang.com/. And pretty much any pick up i get from now on will have it on too. I never had any water get in the bed, it's very easy to put on and take off, it rolls all the way up to the cab if you have to put something big in the bed and it has snaps on the sides to keep it in place.

I have had two different ARE Tonneau covers on both my 2000 Sierra and the one I have on my '08 Sierra and was very happy. They are completely waterproof, carpeted on the underside and you can have the lock coded to your key fob so when you open your truck the cover will open or lock the same time your truck locks do.That's a nice feature to have,The paint is a perfect match and they are easy to open and close with the power assist lifts.I paid $1000 for the model that I bought.

I've got am '08 F150 with the 6.5 ft bed. I put the Undercover hard cover in black. I've never had water seep in and it has double locks. I've actually stood on it to wash the roof of the truck. I think it ran me about $800. By the way...great looking truck. Good luck with it[up]

Thanks everyone for your assistance on the tonneau and your good wishes on the truck. I'm going with the Undercover adn they are running a special that I can get 10% off plus free shipping. Thanks again.
