Preparation for hunt may be in vain

For the Star-Ledger
To prepare for the upcoming Black Bear season, New Jersey hunters need to stock up on the right ammunition, find a good hunting spot and make a plan to retrieve their prey.

They should also engage in a bit of mental preparedness. Aside from the usual hunting concerns, sportsmen might consider girding themselves for disappointment.

Hunters who got their hopes up last year know what that's all about. They attended the bear-hunting seminars and secured their bear permits. They found good hunting locales and worked out arrangements with buddies who would help them pull the hefty animals from the woods.

I hate to be a naysayer but with the election Codey is a lame duck, and Campbell will either (a) not make waves to keep his job, or (b) screw us on the way out the door when Corzine or Forrester appoints their own head of DEP.

Either way--I'd give it 1 in 3 odds of happening this year, at best. [down][down]
I'm a gambling man, I'll take my chances!!! :D
Once Corzine is in we can forget about the bear hunt period. He will appoint an EPA head that makes Campbell look like Ted Nugent.

Someone put a post on this site a few weeks ago quoting Corzine to the effect that" hunters can buy their meat in the supermarket like everyone else" The post also said that he wants to sell off WMA's and State Parks to real estate developers to raise funds for the state.

I don't know how accurate that post is, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Forrester doesn't impress me, but he's definatly the lesser of two evils.
I think the odds of the bear hunt being cancelled is pretty high. Plus, once Borzine is elected... forget about it.
if corzine gets in and does let us bear hunt & someone gets killed it will be his [no swearing please] and who ever is incharge of the DEP
The post also said that he wants to sell off WMA's and State Parks to real estate developers to raise funds for the state.
That would suck big time! that's when i have to move out of state. So how is New York State!

That will never happen. Nobody wants to see all the Land go into Real estate developers. They know they will definetly have animal Problems if that were to happen

He didn't say the quote about selling off the WMA's but he did make the other statement. He also said he would ban ALL handguns in NJ.

Corzine is now trying to get back on the sportsman's side after the stupid statements he made in the first debate about the bear hunt. He's comitted generl fund monies for parks and F&W as well as taking stands on a few saltwater issues (millions of saltwater fishermen in NJ)

Don't be fooled. Corzine is, in fact, the devil.
