Jersey The reasons they delayed the opener is because one of the main stretches of stream runs down into the "lower Basin" this basin has a small dam. The water is still overflowing the dam and the section below the dam is not fishable because the area is off limits. The fear is that if they stocked this week alot of those fish would have found thier way past the damn and into the restricted area.
It does suck for the people who planned to go this week but the powers that be are actually looking out for the people who fish.

Oh just on a side note there a lot of otter all throughout the Arsenal. you can see trout bodies on the bank where the otter got to a few of them sometimes you catch a trout with a hole or 2 in it from a near miss with the otter. 2 years ago I was fishind down stream from pop and an otter appeared 3 feet behind him . scared the heck out of him.

Jersey, I actually got bit by an otter. I was home on leave from the army, so I'm talkin 15 years ago. My dad was an avid trapper. I went with him one day to check his sets and he accidently caught one in a snare. well anway it was my father, a buddy of his, and me. we were trying like heck to get the snare off. It was choking and struggling like crazy. Nobody could figure out how to get to it so I reached down and grabbed it right under the front shoulders.it couldnt get to me so there I am holding this thrashing otter. My dad finnaly cuts the snare loose and tells me to let em go. I let go and on the way down the otter turns his head and nabs me right on my hand between my thumb and forefinger.
trapping with dad brings back a ton of great memoriesI have some grat pics but no scanner I wish I could post some of the pics I have with him. I'd love to post the pics of him with the Bobcat he caught. That was an accidental catch too. Its mounted at Peaquest Hatchery infact. Bad mount though.
