Does anyone have contact info for people that stocks the pheasants? I would like to talk to someone about how they choose their stocking sites. I have been hunting Flatbrook for 11 years now and last year they stopped stocking the section we hunt. I would like to know why.

Me IMB21, carlofunk, went to a spot in Berkshirevalley on Opening day that for the past 10 years has always had more then enough birds for everyone there always got out limits. This year we saw one bird and only heard like 8 shots. The other parking areas were quite also. I don't know but from what it seemed the state skimmped a little on the birds for the opener. At $40 a stamp there should have been more then enough birds for the guys in that area. I would like to write the state and see what they have to say.[down] Not a good opener at all. But it was still nice to get out and meet Carlo he is a good guy and stayed in good spirits even though there was no birds around for him. He traveled 1 1/2 from Point Pleasant to Jefferson (morris County ) to get some birds.

Sean, when will your pup be ready? Maybe he can find you some on the non-stocking days.

I am going to have her out in the afternoons and the weekday stockings. I don't expect great results she will find birds, point and stuff but she still has allot of puppy in her. This will be a good year to work her in the field and next year she should be very good.

Let me know if you need help. My pup went nuts when I brought my pheasant home. Wife said my pup was pissed all morning while I was gone. I came home and she peed 3 times, crapped once on the floor and got it all over herself and me when I tried to clean her. She seeked revenge.

If I wasn't working right now I would call the Rockport Pheasant Farm (908-852-3461) or the northern officer WMA info line (973-383-0918). I want to know where the birds of yesteryear went from my stocking spot.

The earlier and the more you get that pup out, better and faster she'll come along.
She will be getting out every afternoon hunt and Saturday Hunt from here on and she will be getting out for one of the weekday stocking every week. I can only hunt 1 day during the week and Saturdays she will be with me every Saturday. Can't wait to get her on some birds.[up]

I was F&G for many yrs. I know the people there. First , Rockpory game farm & northern office has nothing to due with the stocking at all. The WMA people stock the birds. The bottom line...... X amount of birds to each WMA area. The worker is the one who puts them out. With the cut backs they have to get them out fast. Thats way the birds are not spread out like in days past. I know one WMA that use to pull into a field & dump 1/2 the load & the other 1/2 in the next field.

Bob is there anyway to change that. Our spot is on the way to the fields but in the woods. There are some fields up there that used to be stocked but are no longer. We hunt there because of the crowds in the fields. It is a safety thing.

The only thing that can change it is MONEY. They need money to hire people to get all the work done. Every year the real F&G work force gets smaller & smaller. There was crews on all the WMA years ago. Now 1/4 of the people do 4X's the work.

That sucks. They up the stamp fees and take my birds away. I know I can get them, but I don't like the crowds.

No shortage of birds at Flatbrook today. Shooting all around, low number of guys considering.
We had 8 birds in the field we started in. We got 2.[mad] Should have limited out in about 20 minutes but instead came home with 1 bird apiece. It wasn't a total waste.

TJC, I was up at the flatbrook on Saturday and we didn't have too good of a time. It wasn't bad though either. 4 hunters and we came out with 2 birds. Now if i compair it to past openning days, That wasn't good. But my biggest problem was all the corn fields. But like always, I'll be back for more every Saturday and days i just don't feel like going to work.:)
