This bird never strutted or made any sounds at all. I guess I spooked them a little walking in, but they did not spook off the roost, which worked out for me.[drinking]

Well Saturday my Dad and I hunted the morning at a different spot. Later we drove to this spot and saw 3 toms strutting in the plowed field and we knew we made a mistake. I said I will be there monday morning. The grass is knee high at all my other spots, and the turkeys dont like that too much. This morning I walked in and unknowingly set up right under a hen, and a tom with a hen right behind me. They never made a sound, untill I heard their wings flapping on flydown at 5:30 am. I made 1 or 2 soft clucks at him and he turned away from the hen and came right into my decoys. I shot and dropped him in his tracks at 30 yards. After the shot the hen right above me fly down and took off.
He is 16 lb, has a 8.5" beard and 1 1/8 spurs. It was a awesome hunt, and really had my blood pumping. When they landed in the field my gun was between my legs and I was not ready.[hihi] Somehow I still pulled it off. This is my 2nd bird of the season, and I worked my a*s off for this one
