The perch should be running any day now in Lake Hopatcong. I love this time of year catching perch by the bucket full then the crappies soon after.
Anyone fish this time of year on Lake Hopatcong?

mpemt24 there alot of places you don't need a boat.On lake Hopatcong there are dozens and dozens of coves, small and large that hold lots of fish. a great place to start would be fishing Bradys bridge.I catch lots of crappie there. also have caught Hybrids, pickerel, Walleye. Its a good spot if you dont have a boat.

Do you know where Dowds is? its next to the Jefferson house. we could meet there at say 7:00. I ususlly catch them on fatheads, worms, and a small jig called a Rufus JR.Absoulutly bring your nephew he will have a ball if the perch are running. What I will do is check Thursday and Friday to see if they started and let you know if its worth it or not.

Drag I'm going to check after work today maybe they started. You pull into the marina right across the street from Chabons. Pull down to the right past the boat launch. you be fishing the bulkhead/dock to the left of the bridge. You'll see a concrete walkway on top of the bulkhead fish anywhere in there.

Phil,I use 3 Diffrent baits for perch. you can use garden worms, fatheads, or a little jig called a Rufus jr.On the jig use either a mousy, magot or even a small piece of worm. The fatheads seem to produse the biggest fish. Last year we caught em by the bucket full, all really nice fish using the fatheads. I've caught em using all meathods though. When the perch are running the action can be fast and furious its a lot of fun.if you have kids or Nieces and Nephews bring them along.

Guys I went This Morning. It was slow at first but it turned on about 10 or 11. They were really hammering the fatheads I was also hitting them on a little tube like bait called a mini mac purple with pink jig head seemed to work the best.
Couple of more weeks and you should really start to see some crappies
